Trainee in the Area of Energy

The European Consumer Organisation is looking for a motivated Trainee in the area of Energy.
BEUC has a membership of 43 well respected, independent national consumer organizations from 31 European countries. BEUC acts as the umbrella group in Brussels for these organisations and our main task is to represent our members and defend the interests of all Europe’s consumers.
BEUC is currently looking for a trainee who will assist the BEUC Energy team in its advocacy work on the ‘Clean Energy for All Europeans’ package.
The tasks of the position shall include:
Help develop and keep up-to date information on European affairs and provide support and policy summaries for lobbying actions undertaken by the team members;
Conduct specific research on topics related to energy and sustainability;
Assist in the organisation and follow-up of meetings (e.g. management of logistics, background documentation, report writing);
Analyse and translate documents from BEUC’s members magazines;
Participate in conferences and meetings (taking minutes from events for the Energy team).
The successful applicant should:
Hold a University degree;
Have good organisational, communication and writing skills (essential);
Have a very good command of English (knowledge of other European languages is an asset);
Have the ability to work independently and as part of an international team;
Have a good knowledge of how EU institutions work.

Duties and responsibilities
Interns will gain practical experience in the workings of an international non-governmental organization focused on cities and climate change. The intern will gain exposure across a broad range of functional areas – including program management, stakeholder engagement, operations, grants management, planning and communications – within a dynamic environment.
Responsibilities may include:
Supporting the team in preparation for regular meetings of the Board, Founders Council and Technical Working Groups;
Collecting and analyzing data around specific issues and opportunities;
Assisting in the preparation of presentations for external stakeholders;
Providing administrative and communications support, which include updating initiative’s website and following up on outreach from cities and the general public;
Supporting other key projects led by Secretariat staff.
Key competencies
The ideal candidate will have:
Strong commitment to working with cities and climate change – previous internship experience in both areas preferred;

The Graduate School for East and Southeast European Studies (Munich/Regensburg, Germany) calls for applications for up to 3 positions as a research assistant (PhD candidate position) – employment according to the German TV-L in part time (65 %) – and up to 3 PhD scholarships (beginning November 15, 2017).
The Graduate School for East and Southeast European Studies is a joint program by the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität (LMU) Munich and the Universität Regensburg. The School is funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) as part of the German Excellence Initiative and started in November 2012. Research at the Graduate School is conducted in three broad interdisciplinary fields:

Benefits

These Research Assistant positions are assigned to conduct an independent Ph.D. project. The remuneration is based on Grade E 13 (65%) of the German Public Service Salary Scale. It includes a teaching obligation of one semester hour per week.
Ph.D. Scholarships are awarded with a basic monthly stipend of 1.365 Euro, plus travel funds, grants for material costs as well as child-care expenses in accordance with DFG guidelines where applicable.

NU-WIDER PhD Internship Programme

The PhD Internship Program allows registered doctoral students the chance to take advantage of the facilities and other resources at UNU-WIDER for their PhD research thesis or dissertation along with the opportunity to collaborate with UNU-WIDER researchers in relative areas. These PhD interns will spend on average three consecutive months at UNU-WIDER. During their time in Finland, PhD interns will prepare one or more research papers to give a seminar on their findings. These interns will also get the opportunity to publish their research in the WIDER Working Paper Series.
In order to apply, an applicant needs to already be enrolled in a PhD program and must have conducted research on developing economies. Those candidates that are working in different social studies can apply, but this is an economic-focused facility. Candidates need to be fluent in written and oral English and have good analytical skills. Those living and/or working in developing companies who are in later stages of their PhD will be given preference for this program.
If accepted, interns will be given a grant to cover any costs of travel to and from the location of their PhD institution, insurance for medical and hospital services, and a monthly stipend of €1,600 to cover any living expenses while in Helsinki during their internship.
In order to apply, applicants must apply for the position online as this is the only way UNU-WIDER accepts applications and only does so twice a year. The deadlines for each submission are March 31 and September 30. When applying during the month of September, applicants will be going to UNU-WIDER during February to June of the year that follows, and if one applies in March, they would be going to UNU-WIDER from the months of August to November that same year of application.
It is important to understand that the online application form will only go live one month before the deadline for the application’s submission. As a part of the application, you will need to send in your curriculum vitae. Your PhD supervisor must give UBU-WIDER a letter of reference that needs to be emailed by your supervisor and will be used to certify that you have enrolled in a PhD program at your current university. Emails will not be received by post or by email. Those who have been selected for the program will be told of their final decision by way of email within four weeks of the closing deadline. These applicants have to confirm their decision to take the offer made by UNU-WIDER two weeks after contact.

Fully Funded PhD Student Positions for International Students at University of Milano-Bicocca in Italy, 2017/18

Five fully-funded PhD student positions are now available at the University of Milano-Bicocca to pursue Doctoral Program in Analysis of Social and Economic Processes. Candidates of all nationalities are eligible to apply for these positions.
The ASEP Doctoral Program aims at training students for both scholarly and applied social research.
The University of Milano-Bicocca was founded on June 10, 1998. Located in the Northern part of Milano, Italy, the University campus is built as a cultural district in a postindustrial area (the largest in Europe), where the factory Pirelli previously produced tires and 25,000 workers were employed. Today, the same grounds host around 35,000 students. The University of Milano-Bicocca is a multi-disciplinary university that trains professionals in various fields of both the natural and the social sciences.
Course Level: Positions are available to pursue PhD programme.
Study Subject: Positions are awarded in Analysis of Social and Economic Processes (ASEP) of the University of Milano-Bicocca (Italy).
Scholarship Award: All students admitted to the ASEP Doctoral Program receive a University scholarship of € 16,238.47 per year, gross of social security contributions. The amount of the scholarship is increased by 50% for any period of study or research abroad of at least 30 consecutive days, for a maximum of 18 months. Also, during the second and third years of the program, students may apply for a University research allowance equal to 10% of the amount of the scholarship per year. In addition to University funding, students can access special purpose grants provided by the Department of Sociology and Social Research. Specifically, students may apply for a yearly allowance of up to € 1,200 to cover travel expenses and conference fees, and a one-time allowance of up to € 2,000 to cover expenses related to summer school participation.

The ASEP Doctoral Program welcomes applications for admission from highly motivated candidates with a solid social science background and a strong interest in empirical research. Candidates should hold an Italian Laurea Magistrale or any equivalent foreign degree. Candidates who expect to obtain the required degree by October 31, 2017 are also eligible to apply for admission; accepted candidates who fail to meet this requirement, however, will lose their right to admission. Candidates are expected to be fluent in spoken and written English, which is the official language of the ASEP Doctoral Program.
Nationality: Candidates of all nationalities are eligible to apply for these positions.

20 MIF Research Fellowship for International Students in Japan, 2018

The Matsumae International Foundation is pleased to offer 20 MIF research fellowship program to international students of high academic ability for 2018 entry. Fellowships are awarded to undertake research at selected host institutions.
Matsumae International Foundation aims to assist international students who require financial assistance with scholarship, specifically for overseas students.
The Matsumae International Foundation (MIF) is a non-governmental organization. Many donations have been kindly offered by enterprises and groups, most of the donors are individuals who are sympathetic to the founder’s ideals and maintain contributions to the fund from their limited incomes.
Applicants must hold a Ph.D. (Doctorate) degree or be recognized by the Matsumae International Foundation as possessing equivalent academic qualifications. Overseas students who want to study in English or Japanese must prove their language proficiency if the language is not their native tongue. Applicants may also be asked to submit scores from an English proficiency test such as TOEFL, or to travel to Japan to appear in university entrance examinations.
Course Level: Fellowships are available to carry out research at selected host institutions (university research laboratories, national research institutions or the corresponding facilities of private industry).
Study Subject(s): Fields of study such as natural science, engineering, and medicine are given first priority.
Number of Awards: 20 MIF research fellowship program to international students.
Scholarship Award: The following financial support is provided to successful applicants. No support for his/her family or dependents is available. Fellowships are provided for successful applicants only and intended for necessary living expenses and research activities in Japan. Under no circumstances is any part of the fellowships transferable to any other persons or other items.
Stipend for research and stay: ¥200,000 yen is provided monthly for the purpose of payment of tuition, expenses for research materials, lodging, meals, transportation, etc.
Insurance: Overseas Travel Accident/Sickness Insurance: (1) Personal accident insurance with death benefit and medical treatment, and (2) Sickness insurance with death benefit and medical treatment.
Air transportation: An economy-class round-trip air ticket between the international airport nearest to successful applicant’s home residence and Tokyo via most direct routing is provided. The provided air ticket cannot be converted to cash, nor can cash be provided by MIF for purchase of an air ticket by any individual or organization other than MIF
Lump sum on arrival: ¥120,000 yen is provided to assist with local travel expenses on arrival, the initial cost of lodging, etc.
Scholarship can be taken in Japan
Eligibility: Applicants of non-Japanese nationality who meet all of the following eligibility requirements are invited to submit the required application documents.
Applicants must hold a Ph.D. (Doctorate) degree, or be recognized by the Matsumae International Foundation as possessing equivalent academic qualifications.
Applicants must be under 49 years old at the time of application.
Applicants must have sufficient conversational ability in English or Japanese to prevent insurmountable difficulties during their research activities in Japan.
Applicants should not have been in Japan in the past and/or in the present.
Applicants should have firm positions and professions in their home countries and should return to their countries on completion of their fellowship stay by the foundation.
Applicants must be of sound health and not physically handicapped in any way which would not prevent from carrying out research in Japan.
Nationality: Non-Japanese citizens can apply for these MIF fellowships.

MIF Fellowship Program
College Admission Requirement:
Entrance Requirement: Applicants must hold a Ph.D. (Doctorate) degree, or be recognized by the Matsumae International Foundation as possessing equivalent academic qualifications.

English Language Requirements: A number of leading universities, especially private ones, offer a few courses in English but most are in Japanese and knowledge of the language is more of a requirement than an asset. Overseas students who want to study in English or Japanese must prove their language proficiency if the language is not their native tongue. Applicants may also be asked to submit scores from an English proficiency test such as TOEFL, or to travel to Japan to sit university entrance examinations.
How to Apply: Applicants should obtain the current issue of the Fellowship Announcement from the Foundation. To obtain the announcement, write to MIF with name and address by postal mail, or by E-mail. Or, download the announcement from the web page of the Foundation and print out the Application Form in PDF-format or MS Word file. The Foundation cannot entertain requests for waivers of the eligibility requirements and other conditions, listed in the Fellowship Announcement, and will not respond to such requests. The application must be submitted from the applicant’s home country. Under no circumstances will an application be accepted from a person already in Japan. MIF never receives applications by Fax or E-Mail. All of the following documents (#1~#8) – A4 in size – should be submitted on one occasion by the applicant to MIF. All documents must be typewritten in English. Documents written in any language other than English are not accepted. Submitted applications which do not contain all of the required documents will be automatically rejected. MIF will not be responsible for costs incurred in submitting an application, and reserves the right to request additional documents if necessary. Nationality: UK/EU and International students (achieve a first-class undergraduate honours degree from a UK university) can apply for these masters scholarships.

The University of Bradford is inviting applications for fully funded Archaeology Postgraduate Studentship for students starting their course in September 2017. The studentship is available to pursue postgraduate programme. The aim of the studentship is to provide funding to high-quality applicants. Stockholm School of Economics MBA Scholarship for International Students in Sweden, 2017

World Bank Young Professionals Program 2018

The Young Professionals Program (YPP) is a starting point for an exciting career at the World Bank Group.
It is a unique opportunity for younger talent who have both a passion for international development and the leadership potential to grow in fascinating top technical and managerial roles in the World Bank Group (WBG). The program is designed for highly qualified and motivated individuals skilled in areas relevant to WBG technical/operations such as economics, finance, education, public health, social sciences, engineering, urban planning, agriculture, natural resources and others.
