Role of the Trainee EU Affairs Assistant
The Trainee EU Affairs Assistant is to support the team of the Brussels based EU Representative Office in matters related to the process of financial services legislation.
Tasks of the Trainee EU Policy Assistant
Legislative monitoring;
Attend and report from meetings;
Research for the preparation of background notes and drafts;
Organizational support.
The successful candidate will
Hold a recent university degree (Master) in European Affairs and be familiar with the workings of the EU institutions;
Possess developed communication skills in particular in writing and drafting;
Have sharp analytical and proven organizational skills;
Demonstrate a good spoken and written command of both English and French. Other languages, in particular Luxembourgish and German, are considered an asset.
Prior post-study work experience is not essential, but a very first traineeship in European Affairs is considered an advantage.
Starting date: 22 August 2016.

An internship position in the Human Resources Division based at the Headquarters in Rome, Italy is available now. The Internship will be for an initial period of 3 months (with the possibility of extension) starting as soon as possible.
The selected candidate will be responsible for following key duties:
Conduct qualitative analysis on leadership related data, sharing insights with Director of HRM;

Remuneration
Interns receive a monthly stipend from WFP up to the amount of USD 700 per month depending on the duty station;

The ICRC’s Economic Security (EcoSec) Unit, which is part of the Assistance Division, seeks to establish if people affected by different kinds of crisis and conflict can cover their essential needs in a sustainable manner. If they cannot do so, EcoSec steps in to help protect lives and restore livelihoods.
The chosen candidate will collaborate with the EcoSec Unit staff by directly testing different programme management tools along with compiling and summarizing documentation for data analysis and management as well as the development of best practices and new programming. She/he complements their regular work with additional perspectives and results.
Main Tasks
EcoSec Resource Centre;
Compilation and summary of documentation for pilot programmes and evaluations;
Monitoring of Training Procedure and Statistics;
Project Management Tool User Testing and Data Management;
New technologies.
Eligibility
University degree in information/data management, social sciences, international relations or equivalent;
Proven experience with data processing and with the advanced use of Excel and at least one advanced statistical software (eg. SPSS; Stata);
Good analytical and synthesis skills;
Skills in web content management or data base management would be an asset;

2016 CeMIS PhD and Postdoctoral Fellowships at University of Göttingen, Germany

Centre for Modern Indian Studies at the University of Göttingen is pleased to offer three Ph.D. and two Postdoctoral fellowships for “Global History”. PhD Fellows at CeMIS are appointed for six months and are provided time, guidance, office space, and access to the facilities of Göttingen University.
The scholarship is granted for six months and amounts to EUR 1.600 per month (including compulsory health insurance and travel allowances). The work location is Göttingen.
The Centre for Modern Indian Studies (CeMIS) is dedicated to research and teaching about economic and political development in modern India.

Policy Officer Traineenship at Young European Federalists in Brussels

The Young European Federalists is an organization that Since 2000, has worked a lot on institutional issues calling for a European federal constitution and a more democratic Europe. Another major area of interest for JEF is the defense of human rights and the respect of the state of law especially with our yearly Belarus action since 2006.
JEF-Europe are recruiting a Policy Officer Trainee to work in the European Secretariat of the organisation in Brussels. All interested candidates should be able to start working in the European Secretariat in Brussels from 29 August 2016 for a period of 3-6 months (the exact dates will be discussed with the successful candidate).
Main Tasks:
Supporting the Secretariat and the Executive Board in drafting policies;
Assisting the Secretary General with reports and grant management;
Support the Secretariat in the implementation of its daily tasks and the Work Plan for 2016 – Y.O.U.T.H. – Youth for Openness, Unity, Tolerance and Human Rights (international seminars, meetings, etc.);
Assistance with the LADDER Project where JEF is a coordinator of the YOUTH Path;

Support and coordination of the pan-European actions of the Young European Federalists;

Communications Intern

The European Youth Forum is recruiting an intern for 6 months, starting September, in the Communications Team within the Secretary-General’s Office of the organisation.
The internship is full time based at the European Youth Forum secretariat in Brussels. The European Youth Forum believes in quality on- the-job learning opportunities and this internship is in line with the European Charter for Quality Internships and Apprenticeships (www.qualityinternships.eu).
The European Youth Forum (YFJ) is the Platform of Youth Organisations in Europe. Independent, democratic and youth-led, it represents around 100 National Youth Councils and International Youth Organisations from across the Continent. The Youth Forum works to empower young people to participate actively in society to improve their own lives, by representing and advocating their needs and interests and those of their organisations towards the European Institutions, the Council of Europe and the United Nations.
TASKS
The successful candidate will have a two-fold role:
Assist with the communications for the Youth Forum’s annual political festival, which will take place in 2017 in Maastricht as part of celebrations to mark the 20th anniversary of the signing of the Maastricht treaty. Tasks will include: managing social media activity, ad hoc graphic design, creating content for the website and other ad hoc activities;
Assist with the day-to-day communications work of the European youth Forum, which may include: editing the Youth Forum’s magazine YO!Mag; writing articles and news items for the Youth Forum’s communications channels; monitoring social media; attending and supporting Youth Forum events and any other needs within the communication team to support the general advocacy of the Forum.
PROFILE OF THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
Academic background or strong equivalent experience (which could be through volunteering/as part of studies) in journalism, communication, design or other multimedia disciplines;
Interest in youth policy and knowledge of some basics of the European and global landscape of youth policy;
Enthusiasm and willingness to learn, be part of a team, as well as lead a project independently;
Available for six months, full-time, starting towards the end of August/beginning of September 2016;
The selected candidate will preferably be at her/his first internship experience or not have more than one previous internship experience outside of studies. 
SKILLS REQUIRED
Strong knowledge of web management tools; 
Experience of video and photo editing programmes; 
Knowledge of graphic design programmes; 
Knowledge of and familiarity with key social media channels;

If the recipient has been receiving the scholarship despite his/her falling under any of the following situations, the recipient will be ordered to return the amount of scholarship that he/she received during the period wherein he/she was involved with any of the following situations. ? The recipient is determined to have made a false statement on his/her application; ? The recipient violates any article of his/her pledge to the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology; ? The recipient violates any Japanese laws and is sentenced to imprisonment with or without work for life or for a period of exceeding 1 year. However, this shall not apply to those who were found guilty with suspension of execution of sentences; ? The recipient is subject to disciplinary action by the university, including expulsion(The scholarship payment may be stopped during the period up until punishment is decided by the university, etc.); ? It has been determined that it will be impossible for the recipient to complete the training course within the standard time period because of poor academic grades or suspension from the university; ? The recipient’s residence status has changed to one other than College Student as defined in the Appended Table I-4 of the Immigration Act; ? The recipient has received a scholarship from another institution (excluding those specified for research expenditures). ? The recipient has proceeded to a higher level of education without receiving approval for an extension of the period of the scholarship.
Traveling Costs ? Transportation to Japan: The recipient will be provided, according to his/her itinerary and route as designated by MEXT, with an economy-class airplane ticket from the international airport nearest to his/her home country residence * to the New Tokyo International Airport or any other international airport that the appointed university usually uses. Expenses such as inland transportation from his/her home address to the international airport, airport tax, airport usage fees, special taxes on travel, or inland transportation within Japan will NOT be covered. (*The address in the country of the recipient’s nationality stated in the application form is in principle regarded as the recipient’s “home country residence.”) ? Transportation from Japan: In principle, the recipient who returns to his/her home country within the fixed period after the expiration of his/her scholarship will be provided, upon application, with an economy-class airplane ticket for travel from the New Tokyo International Airport or any other international airport that the appointed university usually uses to the international airport nearest to his/her home address. Note 1: If a grantee returns home without the granting of an extension even though he/she may have applied for an extension of the scholarship period, he/she will not, in principle, be reimbursed for the travel expenses to return to the home country. Note 2: Any aviation and accident insurance to and from Japan shall be paid for by the recipient. Note 3: If a grantee continues to stay in Japan after the scholarship period has ended, he/she will not be paid travel expenses to return to the home country for a temporary return.
Tuition and Other Fees: Fees for the entrance examination, matriculation, and tuition at universities will be paid by the Japanese government.

Eligibility: The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) is now accepting applications from overseas students for study in Japan. The aim is to foster human resources who will become bridges of friendship between their country and Japan through study in Japan and who will contribute to the development of both countries and the wider world.
Nationality: Applicants must have the nationality of a country that has diplomatic relations with Japan. An applicant who has Japanese nationality at the time of application is not eligible. However, persons with dual nationality who hold Japanese nationality and whose place of residence at the time of application is outside of Japan are eligible to apply as long as they choose the nationality of the foreign country and give up their Japanese nationality by the date of their arrival in Japan. Applicant screening will be conducted at the Japanese diplomatic mission in the country of applicant’s nationality.
Age: Applicants generally must have been born on April 2, 1995, and April 1, 2000. 2
 Academic Background: Applicants must either have completed 12 years of regular school education or have graduated from a school equivalent to an upper secondary school in Japan. (Applicants who will meet the above qualifications by March 2017 are eligible. Includes those wishing to enroll for direct placement in the fall term who are expected to graduate by the end of August 2017.) Applicants who satisfy the entrance requirements for a Japanese university are also eligible. (4) Japanese Language: Applicants must be willing to learn Japanese. Applicants must be interested in Japan and be willing to deepen their understanding of Japan after arriving in Japan. In addition, in principle, applicants must be willing to carry out their academic studies in Japan in Japanese.
 Health: Applicants must be free from any mental or physical disabilities that would impede the pursuit of study at Japanese universities.
 Arrival in Japan: In principle, applicants must be able to arrive in Japan between the 1st and ?th of April 2017. If an applicant is to enroll in his/her university from the fall semester through direct placement, he or she must be able to leave for and arrive in Japan by the date specified by the accepting university.
Visa Requirement: Applicants must acquire College Student (ryugaku) visas before entering Japan. They then enter Japan with the College Student (ryugaku) residence status. Please also note that those who change their visa status to one other than College Student after arrival in Japan will lose their qualification to be Japanese Government Scholarship recipients from the date when their visa status changes.
Others: While the applicant is studying in Japan, he/she shall contribute to mutual understanding between Japan and the home country by participating in activities at schools and communities with the aim of contributing to the internationalization of Japan. The applicant shall make efforts to promote relations between the home country and Japan by maintaining close relations with the university attended after graduation, cooperating with the conducting of surveys and questionnaires after the return home, and cooperating with all relevant projects and events conducted by Japanese diplomatic missions in the applicant’s home country.

University of Hertfordshire is offering Vice-Chancellor’s scholarships for international students. Scholarships are available for pursuing undergraduate and postgraduate degree programme at University of Hertfordshire.
The aim of the Vice-Chancellor’s International Scholarship is to enable and encourage academically able international students.
