Internship Delegation of the European Union to Myanmar

The EU Delegation to Myanmar based in Yangon is offering the opportunity of an unpaid internship to gain experience in the field of European Union Development Cooperation. Starting respectively in mid-June 2016 and in mid-July 2016, two interns will be able to join the Development Section of the EU Delegation for a period of six months. Candidates must be citizens of the European Union.
Tasks assigned to the interns can include:
Conducting research related to the EU development project portfolio in Myanmar, mainly on the areas of the Multiannual Indicative Programme for Myanmar (Rural Development, Education, Governance and Peace-building).
Contributing to the preparation of reports, studies, briefing notes or background analyses on specific occasions or subjects (visit of high-ranking officials from HQ, political negotiations or conferences, etc).
Providing support on full project cycle management, and in particular to the design, supervision and monitoring of EU-funded development interventions in Myanmar.
Assisting with the formulation of new projects and the preparation of guidelines, calls for proposals, contracts and grant agreements in the case of competitive processes.
Attending meetings with donors and implementing partners.
Contributing to the preparation of workshops, seminars, conferences and other public events, and supporting visibility and communication activities.
Contributing to the production of publications.
Myanmar remains one of the least developed countries in the region. With this in mind, candidates are advised that living conditions in Yangon can be challenging.
Excellent analytical, communication and drafting skills in English are an ESSENTIAL pre-requisite for the internship as is full computer literacy. Applicants should be graduate students with strong backgrounds in government, development, and/or international relations. Specific experience and interest in Myanmar or S.E. Asia would be an asset. Candidates should send a CV and cover letter todelegation-myanmar-operations@eeas.europa.eu before 25/03/2016 with "Internship application – Operations Section" in the subject line.
