Global Advocacy Intern

SOS Children’s Villages International is recruiting for an 8-month planned advocacy internship, starting preferably in mid-May.
The purpose of this position is to assist SOS Children’s Villages in engaging in advocacy campaigning and capacity-building actions. This is a paid position, remunerated according to the Belgian statute of “contrat d’immersion professionnelle”.

Job description:
Support in engaging in advocacy campaigning and capacity-building actions
Direct support to campaign team and regional coordinator
Write articles for the organisation intranet
Screen reports and summarise information
Organisational and administrative tasks: organisation of meetings and workshops, taking care of minutes
Various tasks assigned by the department or team leader
Qualifications & skills:
Degree in development, international relations, social sciences or related field.
Interest and/or experience on youth participation
Excellent command of written and spoken English. Knowledge of other languages is an asset.

Excellent research, writing and editing skills & ability to think from an audience perspective
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work collaboratively in interdisciplinary and multicultural environments
Ability to work independently, demonstrate initiative, and produce results
Ability to meet tight deadlines
Open-minded, flexible, with patience and a sense of humour, analytical mind, commitment to quality and a can-do attitude;
Computer literate
Permission to live and work in Belgium
