German Bundestag International Parliamentary Scholarships (IPS) in Germany, 2016

The German Bundestag will award with the Free University of Berlin, Humboldt University of Berlin and the Technical University of Berlin annually about 120 international parliamentary scholarships for young graduates from 41 nations. The IPS program lasts 5 months (March 1 to July 31) and is composed of events, seminars and an internship at a Members of the German Bundestag.
The program is under the patronage of the President of the Bundestag. Its objectives are to promote relations between Germany and the participating countries, consolidating democratic values and tolerance, to deepen understanding of cultural diversity and peaceful coexistence in the world to secure.
The German Bundestag collaborates with the Free University of Berlin, Humboldt University of Berlin and the Technical University of Berlinto run its International Parliamentary Scholarships (IPS) scheme. This gives well qualified young people with a strong interest in politics from the USA, France, Israel and Central, Eastern and South Eastern Europe the opportunity to gain first-hand experience of Germany’s system of parliamentary government.
Applicant must be citizen of the participating country and have very good German language skills (at Level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages).
Course Level: The IPS program lasts 5 months (March 1 to July 31) and is composed of events, seminars and an internship at a Members of the German Bundestag.
Study Subject(s): Scholarship provides the opportunity to gain first-hand experience of Germany’s system of parliamentary government. The participants are introduced to the wide variety of tasks carried out in a Member’s office.
Scholarship Award: The scholarship includes a monthly allowance of 500 Euro, free accommodation and health, accident and liability insurance. In addition, the cost of getting to and are taken to and from Berlin. The International Parliament Scholarship is funded by the German Bundestag.

Eligibility:
-Citizenship of the participating country
-university degree
-very good German language skills (at Level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages)
-younger than 30 years at the start of the scholarship.
Nationality: Applicants from following participating countries: Egypt, Albania, Algeria, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Estonia, France, Georgia, Israel, Greece, Iraq, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kosovo, Croatia, Latvia, Lebanon, Libya, Lithuania, Morocco,  Macedonia, Moldavia, Montenegro, Palestinian Territories, Poland, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Syria, Czech Republic, Turkey, Tunisia, Ukraine, Hungary, USA and Cyprus can apply for this Germany scholarship.
Supporting Material: Please send completed application documents by email as a PDF-file to the German mission in their home country; the PDF-file name should consist of their surname, followed by their given name (i.e. “surname-first name”). Their application should be submitted in German and include the following scanned documents:
-Passport photo (please attach this to the first page of the application form);
-Application form;
-Evidence of very good knowledge of German;
-Personal statement of reasons for applying (maximum of two pages);
-Copy of passport or ID card;
-Certified copy of university degree certificate;
-Letter of recommendation in German or English (from a university professor or employer, assessing the applicant’s qualification for the programme).
Copies are officially certified when they have been signed and stamped by a recognised authority (a German or foreign public authority, an embassy or consulate of the Federal Republic of Germany, a university, notary, or translator/interpreter registered with the public authorities) to confirm that they are a true copy of the original. If several photocopies are stapled together, each individual copy must be certified in this way. Unless documents are properly certified, the application cannot be processed.

Application Deadline: Application deadlines vary depending on the country of origin. For Arab countries application deadline is 31 January 2016.
