Student internships at the AEC Office

The AEC is looking for an intern starting in January 2015!
Short description of the organisation

The European Association of Conservatoires (AEC), founded in 1953, is a dynamic European cultural and educational network with more than 280 member institutions for professional music training in 55 countries (conservatoires, music academies and universities, musikhochschulen, etc).
The AEC’s objective is to support professional music training in Europe through the organisation of European projects, congresses and seminars, exchanges, research and by representing the interests of its members on European, national and international level. The AEC has recently relocated its offices to a lively environment in Brussels.

Each year the AEC organises, in a different European country, the Annual Meeting for International Relations Coordinators of European Conservatoires and the AEC Annual Congress, with the aim to discuss relevant subjects in the field of professional music training in Europe and to exchange information (see section Events). The AEC coordinates the biggest European project on professional music training called 'Polifonia' (see section Projects -> Polifonia) and is also involved as partner in various other projects.

Description of the internship

An internship with the AEC can consist of one or more of the following components:
 

  • Organisation: the organisation of meetings, seminars and conferences in various countries in Europe. 
  • Office tasks: being part of the AEC Office and therefore contributing to the day-to-day running of the organisation.
  • Research: to gather information about various topics in the field of professional music training in Europe. Examples of these topics are: quantitative and qualitative research on mobility of teachers and students in professional music training in Europe, examples of good practice of collaboration on a European level between conservatoires, cultural diversity in music education, educational systems for music education in Europe, the connection between training and the profession, etc.

An internship fee of 400€/month is provided, as well as a small compensation for travel costs based on the distance between the work place and the residence in Brussels.

Requirements

This internship is highly suitable for students in cultural management courses or in European studies, social studies, or related humanities programmes, wanting to have experience in working in a cultural organisation on European level and in working with European funding programmes in education and culture. A high level of English is required; knowledge of French, German or Italian is an asset.
Please note that an internship agreement between the intern, the higher education institution/university and the AEC has to be provided for the duration of the internship.

Scope:

Eligibility:
  1. You should be applying to start a new DPhil in Primary Care course at Oxford.
  2. You must be ordinarily resident in the EEA or Switzerland.
  3. The scholarship is only tenable at Green Templeton College. All eligible applicants will be considered for this scholarship, regardless of which college (if any) you state as your preference on the graduate application form. However, successful applicants will be transferred to Green Templeton College in order to take up the scholarship.
  4. To be eligible for consideration for this scholarship, applicants must be successful in being offered a place on their course after consideration of applications received by the relevant January deadline for the course. Course applications which are held over after the January deadline to be re-evaluated against applications received by the March deadline or course applications which have been put on a waiting list are not eligible for scholarship consideration.
