PAID Stagiaire Trainee RAND Europe

Remuneration: €1,200 gross per month
Duration: up to 9 months

We are currently looking for two Stagiaire Trainees to work in our Brussels office, one to start at the beginning of February and one at the beginning of June.

Trainee’s job:

The role of the trainee is designed to offer exposure to the various activities of a policy research institute. The assignment is an ideal transition for recent university graduates into the practical insights of EU policy making and policy research. This experience will provide valuable insights for later in your career.

What you must be able to do for the job:

As a trainee, you are expected to maintain and help manage the office, provide reception to guests, support research staff in preparing research proposals, conducting desk research, monitoring and reporting on EU policy debates, attending and reporting on workshops and generally facilitating RAND Europe’s outreach in Brussels.

Most important skills – personal qualities:

Trainee should have an outstanding academic record (Master’s degree or equivalent) and proven writing skills, a keen interest in (policy) research and familiarity with basic research principles as well as knowledge of national and EU policy making. The ideal candidate is organised, willing to take initiative and a team player. He or she should be proficient in computer office applications (e.g. MS Word and Excel).

Fluency in English is an absolute requirement. Proficiency in French is an important asset. The role is ideally suited to a recent graduate who has completed a traineeship at an EU institution, although we equally welcome applicants with work experience looking to make a transition to policy research.

How to apply:

If you feel that you have the qualities to be a part of our team please send us an up-to-date Covering Letter and CV, ensuring you include at least two referees and details of where you saw the vacancy by email to Recruitment@rand.org. For your information, we will only accept email applications. Please clearly state the reference number of the position you are applying for on all communications.

February start date: 1177
June start date: 1178

The closing date for both positions is the 31 January 2014.
