Communication Intern EFEE - European Federation of Education Employers Amsterdam, Netherlands

The European Federation of Education Employers is looking for an enthusiastic Communication Intern from mid September till December 2013.

The European Federation of Employers in Education (EFEE) is a dynamic European organisation created in February 2009 to represent the interests of employers in the strategic and highly diverse education sector. In these challenging economic and social times with rising youth unemployment and increasing competition, education becomes more and more a European topic. Therefore, EFEE deems it very important that national employers in the education sector reinforce their cooperation at European level.

EFEE is recognised by the European Commission as the social partner organisation for employers in the education sector. Accordingly we are regularly consulted by the Commission on education, social and employment policy issues and we take part in the European social dialogue with ETUCE, the European trade union representing staff in education. As European social partner, we represent the interests of education employers from 18 different EU countries on all education levels: from pre-school, to primary and secondary education, from VET to Higher Education and Research.

In our work good communication is essential. We keep our members up to date on the European developments in the field of education, social affairs and employment. We advocate the interests of our members at European level. And we report on our research, peer learning activities and working groups.

We are looking for an intern who likes to support us in our communication work and who brings up new ideas for our communication strategy.

Your work as an intern includes among others:

  • Writing press releases and newsletters;
  • Publishing web texts and assisting with maintenance of website;
  • Reviewing and editing texts;
  • Assisting with research into education, social affairs and employment issues and producing analyses and reports;
  • Preparing speeches;
  • Reflecting on new communication strategies to improve the profile of EFEE;
  • Representing EFEE at international meetings;
  • Administrative tasks.

The profile we are looking for:

  • Excellent spoken and written English; preferably native speaker;
  • Ability to translate complex issues into clear and concise messages;
  • Highly computer literate and familiar with social media;
  • Knowledge of European decision making process;
  • Strong motivation and high amount of initiative;
  • Ability to work in a team and independently;
  • Bachelors or Masters in a relevant discipline (journalism, communication, European studies, etc.).

What we offer:

With this internship EFEE offers you the opportunity to gain work experience in a small and dynamic organisation that operates in an international environment. We have a flat and open organisational structure. Furthermore, we attach great value to personal and professional development. The internship will be for 3 months from mid September to December (with a possible prolongation of 3 months). You will work 3 days a week, this makes it possible to work on a thesis besides the internship. You will mainly work in Amsterdam and sometimes in Brussels. You will receive an internship costs compensation.
Please send your application (short motivation letter + curriculum vitae) before 7 September to: Sarah Kik, Assistant General Secretary: sarah.kik@educationemployers.eu. For further questions contact Sarah Kik per e-mail or phone +31 6 45234668.
Interviews will take place in the week of 9-13 September.
