2014 International Research Candidate Scholarships at University of New South Wales

The University of New South Wales offers scholarships for international students in Australia. The scholarships are available for pursuing master’s by research degree level at the University of New South Wales in Australia. Scholarships are only available to applicants who hold a 4 year bachelor’s degree with honours class 1 from an Australian institution or an equivalent research qualification/experience. Three types of scholarships are available (International Post graduate Research Scholarship (IPRS), University International Postgraduate Award (UIPA) and Tuition Fee Scholarship (TFS). Only one application is required for the UNSW International Research Scholarships, applicants will be considered for all scholarships for which they are eligible.
About Scholarship: The University of New South Wales offers the following prestigious scholarships to international students of exceptional research potential to undertake a higher degree by research at the University of New South Wales:
1. International Postgraduate Research Scholarship (IPRS): Scholarships available for PhD and Masters by Research in all disciplines.
2. University International Postgraduate Award (UIPA): Scholarships available for PhD and Masters by Research in all disciplines.
3. Tuition Fee Scholarship (TFS) plus a Faculty Research Stipend: Scholarships available for PhD, Masters by Research and for Masters of Philosophy (in selected disciplines depending on Faculty research areas).
Students will be considered for all of these scholarships as appropriate. If you are applying in the discipline areas of Engineering, Business, Science or Humanities/Arts and Social Sciences and would like to be considered for a scholarship place at both the Kensington Campus (Sydney) and UNSW Canberra campus please indicate this on the scholarship application form.

Note: In the faculty of Engineering, only candidates applying for PhD programs will be considered for Tuition Fee Scholarships.
Please note: Once you have been awarded a scholarship you are not able to defer the offer. Students commencing in Semester 1 are encouraged to enroll and commence their studies no later than Monday 3 March 2014. This particularly applies if any coursework components are be being undertaken in conjunction with the research program.

Eligibility:

Scholarships are only available to applicants who hold a 4 year bachelor’s degree with honours class 1 from an Australian institution or an equivalent research qualification/experience. This qualification must be in a field relevant to your area of research.

-Students completing an honours year in Semester 2, 2013 must provide their honours results by no later than 15 January 2014.
-must have completed at least four years of full- time equivalent tertiary education.
-Be an international student.
-Meet international student visa requirements as specified by the Department of Immigration and Citizenship(DIAC), including the requirement to purchase and maintain a standard Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) approved by the Commonwealth Government Department of Health and Aging.
Scholarship Open for: International students can apply for the scholarships. 
Duration: Scholarship is offered for 3 years for a PhD and 2 years for a Masters by Research.
Value: The scholarships will cover Cost of Tuition Fees and an annual Stipend of minimum value $24,653. 
Selection criteria: The scholarships will be awarded on basis of academic merit, research experience and/or research potential. 
Notification: Due to the number of applications that are submitted you will not be sent any notification that your application has been received other than the automated acknowledgement that is emailed to you after completing your online registration for the scholarship. You can see any outstanding documentation on your my UNSW profile. Due to the number of applications that are submitted you will not be sent any notification that your referee report forms have been received. Your referees receive confirmation, so you can contact them to check. Information regarding release of offers to successful candidates will be available from the week commencing 21 October 2013.
