Internship in the Europe and Central Asia Department Transparency International

The Transparency International Secretariat (TI-S) is seeking a highly motivated intern to support its work in Europe and Central Asia.
Transparency International (TI) is the global civil society organisation leading the fight against corruption. Through more than 90 chapters worldwide and an international secretariat in Berlin, Germany, TI raises awareness of the damaging effects of corruption and works with partners in government, business and civil society to develop and implement effective measures to tackle it.
TI advocates for reform by focusing on systemic improvement and by building coalitions with other anti-corruption stakeholders, including governments, the private sector and civil society organisations.
Main function: Assisting the Europe and Central Asia programme
Starting date: 09 September 2013
Duration: Six months; full time Monday to Friday
Department: Europe and Central Asia
Remuneration: EUR 450 (according to the German labour and social security law)
Location: Berlin, Germany

Key tasks:
As a member of a dedicated, international team the intern’s responsibilities will be diverse:

  •  Organising meetings, workshops
  •  Communication with TI National Chapters and other external stakeholders
  •  Contribution to programme reports
  •  Responding to internal and external requests for information
  •  Skilled administrative and financial tasks such as event logistics, carrying out reimbursements and updating internal information systems
Knowledge, experience, interests and skills:
  •  Excellent spoken and written English (working language at TI Secretariat)
  •  Excellent organisational and communication skills, experience organising events is an asset
  •  Some prior office experience, good knowledge of MS Office applications (Word, Outlook and especially Excel)
  •  Demonstrated knowledge of the Europe and Central Asia region
  •  Studies in political/social science, European studies or international relations desired
  •  Some knowledge of and considerable interest in the work of TI and the field of anti-corruption
  •  Other European language skills would be an asset
