Studentships will pay an annual maintenance allowance at the standard

About Scholarship: The Behavioral Science group at WBS focuses on the interaction between the natural and social science approaches to understanding behavior. The group is highly interdisciplinary, using methods drawn from psychology, economics, philosophy, and statistics. The group conducts basic and applied research, and has many links to industry.
Warwick Business School (WBS) is pleased to invite applicants for six fully funded PhD Studentship.
-One studentship will be funded by the Leverhulme Trust programme award on Value. The topic areas can include how people arrive at values under risk and uncertainty and over time, or how individual values may be elicited and aggregated for public policy purposes. Applicants with a background in microeconomics, welfare economics and/or the psychology of judgment and decision making are particularly invited to apply. Supervision will be by Graham Loomes and Daniel Read from Behavioural Science.
-One studentship will be funded by the ESRC Network for Integrated Behavioural Science, to investigate affective forecasting, context and the valuation of public goods. Students should have backgrounds in relevant disciplines including psychology, economics or complexity science. Supervision will be by Nick Chater from Behavioural Science, and Gordon Brown from Psychology.
-Two studentships will be funded by a European Research Council project on the topic of Rationality. Applicants with interests in either human inference or learning from both an experimental and a computational point of view would be particularly welcome. An interest in Bayesian and/or simplicity-based models of cognition would be an advantage. Supervision will be by Nick Chater, and other members of the Behavioural Science group.
-Two studentships will be funded by the EPSRC, and are joint with Behavioural Science and the Global Energy Group. These studentships focus on how people make decisions about heating and cooling in residential markets. This will be applied research, involving business case analysis, field research and experimentation. Students with backgrounds in engineering psychology, human factors or related disciplines are encouraged to apply. Supervision will be by David Elmes from Global Energy, and Daniel Read from Behavioural Science.
