Turkish Speaking Corporate Governance Intern – Custom Research

POSITION OVERVIEW:

ISS' Brussels office, part of MSCI Inc., is seeking one intern for the fall of 2013 (4 months, ideally from mid-September 2013 until mid-January 2014). The research intern will assist ISS' corporate governance analysts in the authoring and preparation of proxy analysis of the annual general meetings of publicly traded companies, mainly for Turkey.

In addition, the research intern will also be asked to assist ISS' analysts issue customized vote recommendations based on client specific policy guidelines. Applicants are expected to have an interest in corporate governance.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Complete analytical corporate governance research of particular meetings and companies in Turkey (and other Southern European markets, if necessary). Specific tasks include drafting vote recommendations, collecting data, and contacting corporate issuers with information enquiries;
  • Distill financial and corporate governance information and issue customized vote recommendations based on client specific policy guidelines;
  • Complete client specific reports and/or policy related projects;
  • Handle administrative duties.

DESIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Fluency (both spoken and written) in English AND Turkish, any other language is a plus;
  • A bachelor degree in law, finance, and/or economics, or in the process of obtaining such a degree;
  • A good eye for detail, strong analytical ability, numeracy, strong oral and written communication skills, a basic understanding of capital markets, the ability to work independently while cooperating with other team members;
  • Sound understanding of shareholder/corporate governance issues;
  • Ability to work effectively with clients, colleagues at various staff and management levels across staff and function lines;
  • Strong computer literacy;
  • Basic understanding of corporate transactions and capital markets.
