2013 PhD Studentships in Management and Business Studies at Cardiff University

ESRC Wales Doctoral Training Centre (Wales DTC) offers PhD studentships. Five fully-funded PhD studentships are offered in the field of management and business studies for the 2013/14 academic year, commencing in late September 2013. 
About Scholarship: Cardiff Business School, supported by the ESRC Wales Doctoral Training Centre (Wales DTC) invites applications for five fully-funded PhD studentships in Management and Business Studies for the 2013/14 academic year, commencing late September 2013.
Awards are available on either a 1+3 or +3 basis. A 1+3 studentship provides funding for four years, completing the MSc Social Science Research Methods in year one, followed by the three-year PhD phase. A +3 studentship provides funding for three years only, and assumes that the applicant will already have completed research training via an ESRC-recognised MSc degree (please see ESRC guidance on this). 
Study: Applications are invited for research in any of the identified management and business potential research topics or in any of the specialized areas of research covered by each section:- accounting and finance, human resource management, logistics and operations management and marketing and strategy.

Value: Studentships will commence in late September 2013 and will cover applicants tuition fees as well as a maintenance grant (currently £13,590 p.a.) and additional Research Training Support Grant (RTSG – currently £750 p.a. in the PhD phase) for three/four years for full-time students. Enhanced stipends £3,000 pa above the standard rate may also be awarded to 2nd, 3rd and 4th year students who undertake advanced quantitative training at Masters level and throughout the PhD. 
Eligibility: University is seeking exceptional applicants with a first-class or very good upper second Honours degree, or a Masters degree with an average mark of at least 65%.  Both UK and EU applicants may apply. EU nationals who have been ordinarily resident in the UK throughout the three-year period immediately preceding the start date of an award (including for the purpose of full-time education) are eligible for a full award.  Other EU nationals are eligible for a fees-only award.
