About Scholarship: JoinEU-SEE is funded by the Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency of the European Commission (EACEA) in the framework of the Erasmus Mundus 2009-2013 programme, which is a worldwide cooperation and mobility programme in the field of higher education.
In accordance with the objectives of the Erasmus Mundus Action 2 programme, the JoinEU-SEE mobility scheme strives to contribute to the achievement of better understanding and mutual enrichment between the European Union and third countries in the field of higher education and society at large.
The JoinEU-SEE activities not only offer scholarship grantees the opportunity to expand their academic competences, their language skills as well as social and intercultural competences, thus improving their employability in an ever faster changing society. The work done in the context of the JoinEU-SEE project will also help to consolidate the academic as well as the political, cultural and economic co-operation between the EU and Western Balkan countries and within the Western Balkans.
JoinEU-SEE supports mobility at all levels of higher education, including both mobility for students (undergraduate, master, doctoral and post-doctoral) and for staff (academic and administrative). Funded by the European Commission within the Erasmus Mundus Action 2 programme, JoinEU-SEE offers scholarships for undergraduate, master, PhD and post-doctoral students as well as for university staff. Scholarships include insurance and a monthly subsistence allowance and cover travel and participation costs. 
Study: All universities in the JoinEU-SEE consortium are comprehensive universities that offer a wide range of studies
Course Level: Undergraduate, master, PhD and post-doctoral students as well as for university staff
Scholarship By: European Commission within the Erasmus Mundus Action 2 programme.
Location: Western Balkan countries and EU member states 
Eligibility: Students and staff members of all partner universities, both from EU and Western Balkan countries, as well as other nationals of any EU country and the Western Balkan partner countries. The JoinEU-SEE scholarship scheme is designed for:
- Students and staff members from Western Balkan countries wanting to study at an EU University.
- Students and staff members from the EU member states wanting to study at a Western Balkan university.
In order to be eligible, Western Balkan Nationals:
- Must be a national of one of the following countries: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, FYR of Macedonia, Kosovo (as defined under UNSCR 1244/99), Montenegro, Serbia
- Must not have resided nor carried out their main activity (studies, work, etc.) for more than a total of 12 months over the last five years* in any of the eligible European countries (Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, The Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom) (this is not applicable for staff and applicants in Target Group 3)
- Must have sufficient knowledge of the language of instruction or of one of the languages currently spoken in the hosting countries
- Must belong to one of the three target groups: TARGET GROUP 1 (TG1), TARGET GROUP 2 (TG2) or TARGET GROUP 3 (TG3).
In order to be eligible, European Nationals must:
- Be a national of one of the 27 EU member states: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, The Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom
-belong to one of the two target groups: TARGET GROUP 1 (TG1) or TARGET GROUP 2 (TG2)
-have sufficient knowledge of the language of instruction or of one of the languages currently spoken in the hosting countries in the Western Balkans. 
Scholarship Open for: The students of Western Balkan countries (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, FYR of Macedonia, Kosovo, Montenegro and Serbia) and EU member states (Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, The Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and United Kingdom) can apply for this scholarship. 
Duration: The duration of undergraduate 1 semester or 1 academic year, master 1 semester to 24 months, doctorate 6 months to 36 months, post-doctorate 6 or 10 months and staff 1 month. 
Value: The scholarship includes
- Subsistence allowance
- Insurance (travel, health, accident)
-Visa costs
- Travel costs (plane, train or bus)
-participation costs (tuition fees etc.) 
Selection Criteria: Nominated applications will then be reviewed and ranked by the LMT at the host university, which guarantees an absence of conflict of interest as well as that students and staff will be selected in a manner respecting principles of transparency and equal treatment. The LMT will review the applications, check if the admission and language requirements are fulfilled and rank the applications. The ranking result will be based on a number of criteria:
-Learning agreement (for Undergraduates and Master)
-Study/research/teaching/training plan (for Doctorates, Post-doctorates and Staff)
-Motivation statement
-Academic performance in the past
-Language skills
-CV & additional activities. 
Notification: Applicants will be notified of the selection results by the end of May 2013 at the latest.
