Description

The 2-year-long (120 ECTS) European Master Course TEMA European territories (civilisation, nation, region, city): identity and development proposes the analysis of political use and scientific representation of territorial units (civilization, nation, region, city) in an interdisciplinary, research-based curriculum.TEMA Master Course is offered by a consortium of the following European universities: Eötvös Loránd University of Budapest, Hungary, École des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales of Paris, France, University of Catania, Italy, and Charles University of Prague, Czech Republic.
Organised in four major modules: civilization, nation, region and city, that represent four research scales, as well as four different approaches to historical, political, social and cultural issues of space and those of territory, the TEMA Master provides students with an in-depth understanding of European cohesion policy and regional development emphasising on legal framework and scientific analysis.

Eligibility

  • Students must hold a first degree (BA/BSc /180 ECTS/) in History, Geography, Anthropology, Ethnography, Cultural studies, Urban Studies, Nationalism Studies, Law, Economy, Administration.
  • The selection is based on academic excellence and proficiency in English and in French, which are the languages of instruction

Scholarship

Category A scholarships:
The scholarship consist in a 1000 € monthly allowance, a contribution to travel, installation and any other type of cost up to 4000 € per year and a maximum contribution to the Master Course participation costs (including insurance coverage) up to 4000 € per semester.
Category B scholarships:

The scholarship consist in a 500 € monthly allowance and a maximum contribution to the Master Course participation costs up to 2000 € per semester.

How to apply

Application Form
An on-line application system is available on the website where the application form, the CV, the motivation lettre and the research plan must be uploaded. The complete documentation must be sent by post to the TEMA consortium coordinator:
  • One passport size photo,
  • copy of passport or ID card (students from Schengen countries), with validity end date,
  • certified copy of the diploma which entitles you to enrol in TEMA Master Course, with certified translation if the language of diploma is not English, French, Italian, Czech or Hungarian,
    copy of any other diploma,
  • certified copy of language test results in English and in French,
  • copy of any other language test results,
  • CV in English or in French.
  • motivation letter in English or in French (1 to 2 pages),
  • study/research plan in English or in French (5 to 8 pages, plus a selective bibliography) related to the subject of thesis.
