Exploring the Netsounds Project website: The Video Resources area

BRUSSELS - Netsounds is a European network project (LLP-EACEA) established to promote the use of digital technologies and social networking tools in music education. ESU is one of the seven partners of the project, being mainly responsible for Evaluation and Quality assurance.
Designed to fully exploit all the opportunities provided by the so-called web 2.0, the Netsounds website has a page exclusively dedicated to share Video Resources.

The Video Resources page can be found under the “Know-How” area of the website and contains video materials about communication and educational activities useful to support didactic projects which make use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in music education.

The technical solution chosen by the website is to use an external video hosting service instead of building an internal one. The chosen platform is YouTube, the biggest and one of the simplest-to-handle user-generated video content websites.

Netsounds has its own YouTube channel (http://www.youtube.com/netsoundsproject) where it is possible to find a large number of video clips linked to the binomial music and technology.

Netsounds YouTube channel is organized into seven different sections, to make the navigation and the research of information easier and more effective.

The clips are arranged in the following sections:

1.    Lessons/Didactical material: it contains practical lessons provided by experts in the field of music production and ICT and/or major institutions such as the Massachusetts Institute of Technology

2.    Research Centres results: it contains interviews, experiments and demonstrations related to research in ICT and music production

3.    Hardware/Software products: it contains videos related to innovative hardware and software products for music production and manipulation

4.    New Open Source products: it contains contributions related to open source music and software, such as the MuseScore programme

5.    Innovative Live Performance: the funniest and most easily enjoyable part of the channel, it presents live music shows and performances produced using ICT tools

6.    New Music Market Scenarios: it contains interviews, opinions as well as some live music performances connected to the topic of new scenarios for the music market

7.    Netsounds Project Events: it is the most “institutional” part of the channel and contains videos related to Netsounds meetings and events
